Skaven horde painting

I have embarked upon an epic quest, determined, as I am, to have a painted army for our clubs warhammer tournament in January. Im still working on a couple of display peices, but its refreshing to manage to finish a nice looking unit/war machine or whatever in a night to a tabletop standard. The list to do so far: 40 clanrats 40 slaves 8 plague censor bearers 34 plague monks Already started: Queek headtaker warplightning cannon + scenic base and crew 5 jezzails poison globe mortar I may regret promising myself this! But anyway, I want another army I can be as happy with as my Wood elves. That I leave alone, dont canibilise, repaint or mess with.

MORE!

Good god, three posts in as many days. Who would credit it? Well, I've had something of a re-inspiration to paint and model, Platoon always seems to be able to do this for me. Whilst others have lost faith, and need time away following the controversies of last weekends judging, I feel more invigorated to improve than I did in the run up to Golden Demon. Anyway. I promised posting the pictures. Apologies for the photos, I'm a painter, not a photographer. Also been working on Viktoria more (weyhey!)

Just when you thought it was safe...

I bought the island of blood box! Man alive, these models are gorgeous. No suprise that golden demon this year was positivley saturated with beautiful high elf and skaven models. Well, I'll finish Viktoria first.

So, I did actually finish a couple of entries in time! Despite a hectic weekend including a kickboxing belt grading, a wedding, friends coming to stay AND games day, I got there and entered. I entered the Krieg Guards Captain that won my clubs painting competition back in June. This was more because it was already done and to hand, I had very little real anticipation it might win anything. I also entered my Elysian Drop Sentinal, which I was quite happy with. This got a finalist pin, and sat on the top shelf with the eventual category winners most of the day. It also got on the GW site, which was nice. Deathmaster Snikch also finalised, but sat on a low shelf with a chip that appeared not long after entering. Annoying, but shit happens. He also got on the GW site. I'll add more posts at some point, but blogger doesnt seem to want to play today.

Caliban Burns!

Well that was fun! The siege of Terra campaign is over, and I am extremley tired. Results not so good - loss, loss, draw, loss. But I had a lot of fun getting there. It was worth attending just to see the Lion (Luther model....Caliban had already been decided by then :( ) charging a Stompa head on and ripping it apart. Some fantastic armies on display, well painted and converted. Dissapointing how many regular 40k armies turned up, well painted, but its a 30k tournament guys, leave your errant armour at home. Shame how many of these armies were nominated for best army at an event aimed at conversion to heresy era armour/weapons/vehicles. In the end, won by a brilliant Exodite army well deserved. Ill post up some pictures at some point, but thats to the Great Crusade guys for making me so welcome at my first event, thanks to everyone I met in the Caliban taskforce for being a generally nice bunch, and well done to Ross at mywargame for getting his Dark Mechanicum nominated, even if he...

Just a quick update with some pictures. I did an extensive photo session the other night to try and get WIPs of every PH model im currently working on, but they turned out to be a bit...shit. So heres the best of. Luthers honour guard: Kohl & Sternguard Now Im going to lie down and wonder why I signed up to this. Im really not enjoying the build upas much as I thought, I hope the tournament is as enjoyable as I've been told

pre heresy takes its toll

I am covered in paint splashes. My brushes are getting worn, and I am sick of painting bloody marines. That can only mean that Age of the Emperor - Siege of Terra (fall of Caliban,) is round the corner. Like Ross at mywargame, I have been feverishly trying to get my battlegroup ready in time for the tournament. Being pre heresy, this is even more frantic than usual tournament army building. Every unit has at least some minor conversion work, and none adhere to standard paint schemes. My Dark angels were initially going to be a soley lutherite force, the tempus fugitives dark angels pack actually splits the players between the Lion and Luther based on age during the actual game. So I have made my own luther who will (heresy!) serve as the Lion when I am inevitabley the younger player. So far complete: Sabre tank hunter . - A vindicator originally finished for my original Dark Angels 40k army, I added a barrell tipped with an insulin needle cap as a laser destroyer for the pre-heresy ...
