Closing 2017

Seems fitting that I join the hordes of other people setting goals for 2018! I have lots of personal goals which have until now meant my hobby has taken a back seat. A career that used to be the reason I picked up a paintbrush to cope, has become a success and taken off for me, lots of challenges to come. My martial arts training and fitness has suffered, and I'm really keen to get to my first dan stripe on my black belt this year. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing if I can balance these things against painting models! Hobby goals Josh, hobby. Commission works I'm currently working on Mortarion, and I'm hoping to get him finished for the end of January. Friend I'm painting him for is the same crazy man with all the titans I've previously painted, and he keeps threatening me with a Warlord. I'm currently in the grips of Golden Demon fever...so for obvious reasons I won't be posting work in progress shots on an open forum. Platoon are being as helpfull as usual in mentoring me through the build, and soon the painting of my entries (two and half on the go so far) So, as the title says, watch this space, I'll publish em - good or bad result, end of September. The new GW paints seem a good topic to blog about. I know there are mixed reviews out there at the moment, but to be honest Im a solid convert. I've tried the following Yriel Yellow Wazdakka Red Fenrisian Grey Lamenters yellow Balthasar Gold Baneblade Brown Nuln Oil Seraphim Sepia The washes (shades as they're now called) are much easier to use, pool better and give a thinner, consistance finish. The only glaze I have is lamenters yellow, which I've found a useful addition. Nicley ties highlites and blending together without pooling in a different shade. The metallics - differ...
