Return to the hunt

I've been reminded of this blog's existence! It is with shame that I realise it has been some years since I updated - but, I have been beavering away on a number of things. Some of them here. Firstly, Saamael, master of the Ravenwing. This is actually my second of this model, having painted the metal on release - a friend bought me the finecast release for Christmas to have another go with some more experience and hopefully skill under my belt ten years later. As you can see I've tried to go to town on the book and detail this time it, hope it's going well. I'm also working on some Ravenwing black Knights using the forge world outriders kit, also bought by a friend for Christmas! (It's been a Ravenwing year) As well as these, I'm working on a comission Mortarion, a Deathwing Ancient and a Naughty Gears bust. More to follow I hope! Josh

Watch this space

I'm currently in the grips of Golden Demon fever...so for obvious reasons I won't be posting work in progress shots on an open forum. Platoon are being as helpfull as usual in mentoring me through the build, and soon the painting of my entries (two and half on the go so far) So, as the title says, watch this space, I'll publish em - good or bad result, end of September. The new GW paints seem a good topic to blog about. I know there are mixed reviews out there at the moment, but to be honest Im a solid convert. I've tried the following Yriel Yellow Wazdakka Red Fenrisian Grey Lamenters yellow Balthasar Gold Baneblade Brown Nuln Oil Seraphim Sepia The washes (shades as they're now called) are much easier to use, pool better and give a thinner, consistance finish. The only glaze I have is lamenters yellow, which I've found a useful addition. Nicley ties highlites and blending together without pooling in a different shade. The metallics - differ...

No Disintigrations..

Well,  here he is, done and dusted. Im not massivley happy with it - could have done better, but by the end I wasnt really "feeling" the model anymore, and just wanted to get it off my desk. Thats no reflection on Knight, its a lovley peice - but it rolled on a bit longer than Id have liked, and there were a few annoying little complications that spoiled it for me. That said, I hope Adam likes it!   Vote on CMON here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/294336

Boba Fett? Where? Boba Fett?

one titan finished! Poor quality image on cool mini here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/291999   Im currently working on Boba Fett for Adam, heres my poor quality picture update. (NB - you'll have to excuse the photos. Until I get a proper light set up, this is as good as its going to get. Luckilly, I here Santa's sack might have one this year) this is the 70mm Knight Models release, I picked up from Maelstrom Games.

Warhounds - seeing the light at the end of the tunnell. (Its a train)

Some more little updates, well actually a pretty big one! Legs section - done! Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnell on this one. Lots of grease, muck and oil on there, when everythings done I'll give it a light dusting of graveyard earth too for a finish of dust. Also worked on the right hand "shoulder" The soot needs thinning onto the yellow yet. Note the reconstructed plastic whittled spikes to replace the original resin ones which snapped off almost immediatley. I've got a small list of to do now, thank god - the sides of the body, with some hefty detail, fans, grills, pipes, icons etc, but its all hidden - done one side but the other still to do. The gun servitors inside the weapon shoulders, the carapace metalwork and spikes, rear of the engines and the underside of the weapon mounts. Lots of little bits, considering how much I've already done! (and have still to do, with its sister warhound...)

More titan stuff

Suggested names "stroppy and careless" I like. Sorry Brian!

Back after almost a year!

More than that actually. I've been blogging really over at www.platoonbritannica.com for most of the year, but with my latest project, a comission for a friend of two flaming skulls legio warhound titans, a few people have been asking for a WIP thread that wasn't on that forum so they could have a look. Anyway! I'm not going to go back over the ENTIRE WIP, so I'll post up some of the update pics from the last two weeks, to give an idea. Im supposed to be going along to a midlands meet for platoon at the start of december/end of nov, really looking forward to it. Only downside is that were probably at GW warhammer world, and have a condition of citadel only models on the day! Apart from the above, Im painting a knight models release, a heresy model, a bane lords model and judge dredd models...time to find something from GW apart from titans I want to paint!
